Play Apple Music in old car

Looking for a device that can transfer music from Apple phone to her stereo in an old car that does not have Bluetooth. Any suggestions?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 16

First check if the radio has an Aux input somewhere (it might be on the radio or hidden somewhere - I had one in the glove box). Check the internet for manuals for the radio type - e.g. it might have an aux-in at the rear for a boot-mounted CD multi-player that you could access by pulling the radio out.

If not, you used to be able to buy a widget that plugged in to the headphone socket and transmitted on FM so you tuned the car radio to it. Google or a popular auction site will help.

Neither of these allows control of the music with the radio's controls other than volume and on/off, so if you're in the UK she wouldn't be able (legally) to touch the phone once it started playing and she was driving.

Easier, but more expensive way, is to buy a head unit that does Airplay and fits in the same space as the radio. It might need to be fitted professionally depending on the age of the car; later cars had standard connectors but if the car is last century then it might need a pro fit - or some digging on Youtube and confidence with re-wiring.

Thank you. We don't have the car yet. It's a 2004 Ford Escape with a basic AM/FM radio. I'll check it out. Thought there would be an after market device that could be plugged into the lighter and play iPhone music through the speakers. Hoping...!!

If it has an AUX jack as mentioned above, you'll be fine. Even if you're not legally allowed to touch the iPhone while driving, you can control lots of things with Siri.

If there's no AUX jack, you can see if you can find an FM transmitter. They re-route your phone's output to the radio by using an empty spot on the FM dial. The drawback is that, if you live in an urban area, there many not be any usable frequencies. Before I had an AUX jack, I used them. They would not be my first choice.

Here's one I saw on Amazon:
