Pro Display XDR momentarily looses connection to Mac Pro 2019
My Apple Pro Display XDR momentarily looses connection to Mac Pro 2019. Sometimes this can occur back to back within 10 seconds, so like 5 blackouts then come back on and stay "normal" for hours...then happen again.
Setup:
Mac Pro 2019, 12 core, AMD Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB, 32GB memory.
+ Pro Display XDR is plugged into the back "IO board" via the supplied USB-C cable.
+ Apple Cinema Display (ACD) 30" is connected to the top of the Mac Pro using a third party Apple Display Port to USB-C adapter.
+ Logitech 4k Pro camera with XDR magnetic mount plugged also into the top of the Mac Pro.
iPad Pro 11" (gen 2) plugged into the back of the Pro Display XDR via USB-C for charging...
Even when both ACD and XDR displays are 'OFF' and the Mac is not showing anything on the screen, I can hear the iPad "power restored" chime occur. So I know this is happening even when no user is using the Mac Pro.
This problem began with macOS Sonoma 14.x
Today I upgraded to macOS Sequoia 15.1
The problem has now occurred in Sequoia also.
I do not know if this is a hardware issue or a software issue, or a what.
Apple Support:
Apple Support phone team suggested running in Safe Mode to try to isolate the problem. But they told me to call them "right away" if I could get it to happen again...something about grabbing the logs off my machine.
I do not know how they expect me to run this Mac in Safe Mode for days and then somehow reach a support engineer within a few minutes of the logs? Why can't they just pull the logs under normal mode?
Side Note:
Originally I could connect both displays to the "IO Board" into the two USB-C ports but a macOS update apparently "standardized" the Thunderbolt specs over USB-C and after getting into a support call with Apple Engineer, they determined that a 6K plus a 2.5K display would not be workable on one USB-C board...too many pixels (again, this 'broke' after they standardized some Thunderbolt specs).
Timeframe:
It began maybe this spring, 2024...
