Moving entire iTunes library help

My iTunes library (purchases & CDs) are on my laptop windows 8.1. I want to transfer it all over to a portable device and am unsure how to do it without an Apple Account. I did practice it on a later laptop with iTunes app but it didn't transfer the CDs and also missed out many purchases too. I also need help on the best device to buy as I don't want to but the latest iPad that is only supported for a few years. I read that there are other devices like MP3 players but need guidance as to what is best. Any simple, clear help will be very much appreciated. Thanks

We'd have to know what "portable device" you decide on before anyone can offer any instructions. And we really can't recommend such a device without knowing more about what you're looking for; just a music player, a tablet, or what. Post more information about your needs and preferences and we'll go from there.

Note that, in regards to your comment about iPads, any portable device is only going to be supported for a few years, if that, no matter who you buy it from. Apple supports iPads longer than most manufacturers do their own devices. Just for consideration.

Regards.

The only small portable devices Apple makes now that can play music are the iPhone and the iPad. If all you want is to be able to play music, then an iPad mini would probably suit. But I'd suggest that you go to an Apple Store or authorized Apple dealer, look at one, and talk to an expert there about what you want to do. An Apple Store will be your best option if you have one in your area, since they can not only advise on what to get but also can help you get your music moved. Of course right now they're probably swamped, so if you can wait until after Christmas, things will probably be less rushed.

Regards.
