Music pausing and Carplay disconnecting when using camera

I have a 16 Pro Max with the latest update and I realized that my music stops playing when I take a picture in the camera app. The same also happens when connected to car play. If I take a picture while connected it completely disconnects carplay and will sometimes refuse to reconnect unless I restart the phone. I also noticed an issue where I would be connected to carplay but the music plays from my phone and not the car. This normally happens if carplay reconnects without me restarting the phone after the camera issue occurs. I am not sure what is causing these issues but is there a possible fix to it?

What are you using for your Music source? Do you pay for the premium version of it? Typically, if you are using a free service, if you want to do something else on your phone, music will be interrupted. If, for example, you upgrade to the paid version of Apple Music, music will not disconnect if you do something else. I pay for streaming services and am able to start listening to music, then take a photo or do pretty much anything else on my phone without interruption.

I can't comment to CarPlay as I've never tried to take a photo while I'm in my car connected to CarPlay. This could be by design. There is no camera app in CarPlay and Apple may purposely interrupt CarPlay if you attempt to do something other than drive while connected to CarPlay. But that's a guess on my part for this.

Hi I have the paid version of Apple Music. The issue only started since getting the 16 Pro Max. With my previous 14 Pro Max I was able to take pictures just fine without any music or disconnection issues. It also doesn’t happen everytime I take a picture. Coincidentally it often happens at the most inconvenient times (ex. if i’m rushing or if i am using Apple Maps navigation and need directions)

I'd recommend contacting Apple Support for help. This is certainly not my experience on my 16 Pro Max.

You can call Apple (if in the US) at: 800-MY-APPLE. You can also visit the Genius Bar at your Apple Store and show it to them.
