Unresponsive Apple Pencil straight out of the box
I have never gotten the pencil to work. It doesn’t show up after doing everything suggested here, doesn’t appear to be charged or present at all.

If I'm reading this right, and it has never worked since day 1, then try contacting Apple Service. The people there should be able to help since this is new. You might have a defective product. https://support.apple.com/en-us/106932
