Beats Fit Pro case connects but buds do not

Brand new from Apple Store. Beats Fit Pro buds. Case connects to iPhone, but when I lift buds out they disconnect. I have already tried: forget device, BFP factory reset, charging everything overnight, checking iPhone software update. My old BFP buds had zero problems and were excellent but after literally hundreds of miles and thousands of hours of listening, I decided to replace with a new pair. I did not have this connectivity issue with the first pair.
