What Operating System works best with iMic Griffin 2004?

Good day i am having an imic griffin 2004 my question is CAN U tell me what operating system i need to to run this imic griffin adapter greeding

Hello angel899

I bought one of these when they were released, about 2004-ish so it would have been in the days of OS X.3 or .4, Panther or Tiger. They worked with the then current macOS and have worked with every version since. I have used mine (with my guitar) with Sequoia.

It requires no specific software.

NO, do not do that. It works in later MacOS such as El Capitan, Sierra and High Sierra and Mojave as well.

if is not necessary to install Final Vinyl for the device to work.

yes. That device is well supported by a wide range of Macs running a wide range of MacOS versions.

As Grant mentioned above, you can use other recording software with the IMic. It's just an adapter. You can use GarageBand as I do, or the free software Audacity, for example.

Grant's observation that the unit has failed is most likely the cause. However, it's worth checking in About this Mac System Report > USB to see if the system can see it, like this:

I found also that sometimes the iMic would not co-operate with GarageBand and had to be reinserted into the USB port, or a different port, so try that also.

hi thanksx for u quick responds and u help so u bought one of this 2004 whren it was released so it woks with tiger or panther correct right now i have in my imac mASCHINE SIERRA VERSION maby i have to uninstall sierra and install tiger version in order for it to work .

so no spefific software is required mine imic came with the software Final Vinyl

2.0 but its not necesary to install the software correct? aanother thing it works on any mac mASCHINE CORRECT

good morning david i am sorry to bother again with this i tried my old imic last week on my imic os x sierra system with the program garage band and it wouldnt show up in preferences what could be the problem .

i might have to try it witrh mac os 9 not sure what to do hope u have an advice

Hello unfortunataly i cannot contactcontact the maker any more website has been removed it looks like i tried cant u check in you system how imic is set up and guide me thrugh again it doesnt seem to work for sierra version on my os x i have another imic and its new i dont my unit has issues
