I recently ( January 2025) bought an Apple Pencil from amazon, (from the apple page on amazon), supposedly new, after I received it, I entered the product serial number on the coverage page, but it shows the purchase date November 2024, does this mean that the Apple Pencil was previously owned and activated and not a new one since I haven’t activated it yet? thank you

when they were purchased, you can't buy a ios device and keep it in a basement for 10 years and activate it and have that be the purchase date, same deal as to when the warranty begins.
Not necessarily. AFAIK, the "purchase" date, that an Authorized Apple Reseller like Amazon, is when Amazon "buys" it from Apple. It is not when you purchase it from Amazon.
