Return Replacement Airpod DENIED

I lost an airpod and quickly ordered a replacement as I use them daily for calls. The replacement was shipped and arrived in 2-3 days which is great! However, by the time the airpod arrived, I found the original. The replacement is fully unopened in the original packaging. I called apple support, and they said there is no way to return the replacement airpod. It seems strange you can't return an unopened factory packaged replacement product within a week of receipt. It's also contrary to the 14-day return policy on the website.

I am guessing this is because of the unusual status of the replacement Airpod. Apple does not normally sell them individually so I would guess the standard return policy does not apply. If you want to learn more, you will have to contact Apple. You may need to speak with somebody senior since whoever answers may just be working with the same information you already have.

Select from the presented options until you find a solution for your issue, or see if there is a chat or phone call contact method offered lower on the page (you sometimes have to narrow down the options multiple times before this is shown). If you do not see your issue, keep experimenting with any series of selections until you reach one that offers a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

It was purchased with a credit card. They said that it was because it was a replacement item. It still cost over $90 for a single airpod, so its entirely disappointing they won't take it back. Its 100% still in the original packaging, unopened. It was simply a timing issue of when I ordered the replacement and when I found the original.
