How do I turn off the filmstrip preview in Photos on iPhone 15?

I have an iPhone 15 running iOS 18.2.1. When using Apple Photos there is now a "filmstrip" of very tiny photo thumbnails that covers the bottom of each picture. How can I turn off this feature?!

You know, I could be wrong-- that strip was in the Camera view, but maybe not the Photos view. Hmm. These things just run together in the brain…

Once in the full screen view, you can scroll through to other pictures in full screen. Sometimes my finger slips and I end up back in preview.

Interesting. I have used Apple Photos on my iPhone for the past 12+ years and today is the very first time I ever saw the "filmstrip" hiding the bottom of the picture :-) I did recently upgrade from an XR to a 15 - could that be why I didn't see the filmstrip?

Ok, so from now on I need to move in and out of preview to fully view my photos.

Thanks.
