Copy formula as text

I have a formula, SUMIFS(AMOUNT,CHECKBOOK::'MiKE: CHECKING',A11,MONTH,B11). It refers to a spreadsheet on another tab. On that tab I have a specific date in Cell C235 of 1/9/2025. On that same spreadsheet, in a separate Cell B235 I have a formula: =C235 and have it formatted as Jan 2025.

I want to copy the numeric result of this formula into a cell on another cell in a different tab. When I refer to cell B235 which has a formula, it returns $0.00, however if I go back to cell B235 and manually type in Jan 2035 it gives me the result I want, in this case $586.04 the sam of my Feb amounts. Excel doesn't have this problem. It will return the result of the formula instead of having to physically type in the date. Help would be appreciated. Copy/Paste formula result doesn't solve my issue.

99% chance this is one of data format.

Numbers doesn't have any problem referencing cells across sheets within the same document.

If you want to copy a specific cell value rather than the underlying formula, then use Edit -> Copy followed by Edit -> Paste Formula Results

However, bear in mind that if you copy incompatible data types you might not get what you expect. This is also true of date fields where the field may display 'Jan 2025', but the underlying cell value is "January 4th 2025 12:34:56pm", which can break comparison fields when you think you're just comparing, say, the MONTH() of a date rather than the specific moment in time.

I'm further sure this is related to the problem because of your statements:

> When I refer to cell B235 which has a formula, it returns $0.00

This implies that B235 has a currency value

> however if I go back to cell B235 and manually type in Jan 2035

Now you're saying B235 should have a date value.

Which is it? B235 cannot be both a currency and a date value at the same time.

What value is in that cell. What value do you _expect_ to be in that cell?

From your description, since you haven't provided screenshots, I'm guessing your document is organized in a very "Excel-like" way.

If you haven't done so already you might want to have a look at the templates at File > New in your menu to understand good design for Numbers documents.

I don't really follow what you are trying to do but perhaps you could make use of copy via command-c followed in the target cell by Edit > Paste Formula Results.
