Epson L1250 printing blank pages on MacBook

I have a new MacBook and a new printer Epson L1250.

I have downloaded the latest Epson software the printer works if I send documents to print via email, or print from my iPhone.

It appears on my Mac as a printer and is listed as connected.

I printed a Check Network Connection sheet and everything was a Pass.

It has ink and prints great for all test sheets.

When I try and print from the MacBook, it registers the document to print and number of pages etc, but when it prints it just feeds through a blank page. I am trying to print from Microsoft Word or excel or email or anything really - it does the same thing.

I have searched Epson support pages, checked settings on Epson Connect and on Mac Printers but nothing.

One thins I notice: When I go to System Settings, then to Printers & Scanners, the Epson does show up. When I click it and go to "Options & Supplies", the only tabs available for me to view are "General" and "Supply Levels". There is no option to look at printer settings on anything else (I found references to checking these but have to way to see/check them.

Any advice appreciated - please in beginner non-tech language as I am not an expert! Thanks in advance.

Ok thanks. Apparently it isn't an AirPrint printer, so you will need to download and install a driver. Try the one on this page:

https://www.epson.eu/en_EU/support/sc/epson-l1250/s/s2067?selected-tab=&selected-os=macOS+15+%28Sequoia%29&selected-lang=en

It should look like this

There are downloads for both Product Setup and Drivers. Try the first one first, and then the next one.

Before installing that printer in Printers & Scanners, you might as well delete the existing printer entries since they aren't working anyway. Besides, the Epson 9 pin and 24 pin drivers are for a completely different printer.

Once you install that Epson L1250 Driver, something resembling it should appear in the list under Choose a Driver.

Let us know if you run into any roadblocks.

As you can imagine AirPrint made things a lot simpler. It's surprising to learn that printer is not AirPrint-enabled, but apparently it really isn't.

I am unable to find an Epson L1250 model on About AirPrint - Apple Support, but if you are able to print from your iPhone it must be AirPrint-enabled. Are you certain that it is entered as an AirPrint device in Printers & Scanners? Refer to Printers & Scanners settings on Mac - Apple Support.

If it is please read Print wirelessly from your Mac to your printer - Apple Support, and refer to those troubleshooting instructions.

Try cycling the power on your wireless router or access point: disconnect its power, wait an arbitrary moment or two, power it up again. While you wait you might as well do the same with the printer.

There is no need to download anything from Epson; in fact Apple used to recommend not doing that. I'm not sure if they still do, but in any event no downloads, drivers, installation procedures etc are required to use AirPrint.

I have been unable to any references to AirPrint either. Its documentation has none either:

https://files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd6/cpd61841.pdf

... which leads me to question whether an Epson L1250 is in fact an AirPrint printer.

When you print from your iPhone, how do you do that?

I might suggest Solve printing problems on Mac - Apple Support, but it quickly becomes lengthy and complicated. One of its recommendations is to reset the printing system but I am reluctant to do that too, since it removes all your printers, some of which may not be possible to add again due to the overarching nature of macOS's security.

Anyway, please describe what you do when you print from your iPhone. It might help me understand what's going on.

Thanks for the reply. It appears as a printer when I try and print. I press print and it feeds the paper through but comes out blank.

I read those links about setting it up as AirPrint but didn't find anything specific to say if it is AirPrint or not? It does appear as a listed printer when I print, so I can choose it as the printer. Should I be doing something special to activate AirPrint?

I have tried with and without a cable and it's the same thing. I don't know what else to check...

Thanks

I just hit reset the printing system (this is the only printer on there).

When I re-add it, it gives me the option to select "Kind" of Bonjour or USB. Not sure what either are but I have added both.

It asks me to Choose a Driver and I have the options Epson 24 Pin system or Epson 9 Pin system.

Not sure what either of those either.

I have experimented with various combos but if any of this makes sense to you and you know what combo of selections may work I am interested to hear!

thanks so much for your time on this.
