Card already in wallet - but it isn’t

I deleted three cards from my wallet and then realized I needed them. In trying to add them back I repeatedly get the message “card is already in Wallet”…. but it isn’t… none of them are. My wallet does not back up to the cloud so that’s not the issue. I have restarted my phone several times as well as any other devices I have attached to my Apple account. None of them have the Wallet app except my phone. Any idea how to fix this? is there a time required for the card to be completely deleted before I can add it again?

Trust me it’s described in Dante’s Inferno https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inferno_(Dante)

😁😁😁

Banks control the cards and tokens when they are in the Wallet app. You some banks basic support are pretty good and understand the issues. The others you may need to escalate the issue.

When cards are added by your bank, they issue a dynamic token that changes information for every transaction. The bank controls the tokens. Apple can’t touch them with one exception, logging out of your Apple ID. That should remove all the tokens, issued by all the banks etc. I usually don’t recommend that.
