Cannot find desktop folders after doing a Migration from old Macbook to new Macbook

I used the Migration utility to transfer old Mac to new Mac. I seen everything on my new Mac so I deleted all the desktop folders from old Mac. Did it delete them from my new Mac because they are no longer on the desktop. They were there before.

Why have all my files from my old Macbook Pro synched to my desktop only I just bought a new macbook pro and began to set it all up. I was asked to update to the latest macOS Ventura, which I did. When it was all installed and restarted, literally ALL my files (from various folders / downloads etc) from my old Macbook Pro synched and appeared on my desktop. Now my desktop is filled with hundreds of files and documents and appear to be linked to my old macbook. Why did this happen? If I delete a document from the desktop's new laptop then it deletes it from the relevant folder from the old laptop. All folders on desktop have same content, and I can't delete without loosing everything. Yesterday, I got onto MacPro and found that each folder on my desktop contains all the folders on my desktop, and all have the same content. If I attempt to 'clean out' folders by deleting content not related to that folder, all the folders on the desktop disappear into the trash. I tried to copy and back up the information, then empty the desktop completely, restart, and reinstall the folders one at a time, and they all either all come back with all the content, or they don't come back. I recently updated to the osVentura operating system. Is Ventura to blame? How do I separate out the info into separate folders like before?

have you deleted the files in between transfer of files.

however check in finder in recent you may find if it was not deleted before transfer.

I seen them sitting on the NEW Mac's desktop and I was able to click on them and open them. So I deleted the desktop folders on the OLD Mac and emptied the trash. I left the house but when I came back I seen they were gone from my new Mac as well? Would it have deleted them both? I was nervous that was going to happen honestly but thinking since I double checked and they were there, then I was in the clear.
