Apple Pay on MacBook Air won’t show fingerprint prompt in Safari

On a Macbook Air (Sequoia 15.5), in Safari Version 18.5 (20621.2.5.11.8), when Apple Pay is selected as a payment option, the Apple Pay popup will not load the fingerprint icon in order to complete the purchase.

  • Fingerprint works for other things, such as signing into my Apple account to submit this question.
  • If I select "Pay with credit/debit card" I am able to insert my card info with my fingerprint.

Just wanted to confirm browser causing the issue. Many people use multiple browsers and forget which one they were using.

Do you use multiple screens, use something other than default resolution for the screen, of have the fonts set to display larger size or bold text?

VPN and antivirus software are known issues for antifraud measures Apple Pay and banks use. Not sure you’ll want to follow the next steps.

Remove the VPN and uninstall the VPN and antivirus software. You’ll also need to reset the network settings on the MacBook.
