Sign-in issue on iMac after waking up from sleep mode

1.When I awakened computer from Sleep mode, got a screen that was 60% black on top and bottom 40% displayed only date and time on Sequoia backgound. Could not sign in or anything.

2.Force closed, waited then re-opened with same results.

Most experienced users do not use the Sleep feature as it causes problems. There is a work around that you can use that yields the same net results:

  • Click the Apple Symbol in the upper left of the display and select System Settings
  • Click Lock Screen on the side bar.
  • Select Turn Display off When Inactive and select the amount of time you want. (I have mine set for 3 minutes but you can select from 1 minute to 3 hours) .
  • Quit System Settings and test. (Note if you have a problem please restart in Safe Mode using Safe Mode instructions) and then restart normally and re-test).
