Suspicious Apple Pay charges from unknown iPhone in California

I have received a text about charges being done on my Apple Pay for an amount over $200 in California from an iPhone that I do not have. My gut tells me scam so I have it blocked. What else can we do to get this information to proper people so that it can be delt with before it gets worse
