I have an issue with opening downloaded Word documents from Files app. After new iOS/iPadOS update there is a new preview window and from that window I can’t do anything with downloaded Word document. I can’t open it via Word or any other app. It seems like the documents were corrupted or something. Do you have any solution? Or should I just wait to an update ?

While in Files App, touch-and-hold one of your Word documents to expose an action menu. From the menu, select Open With - and from the sub-menu, choose Word.

I know this is not a fix, but I found, that if I go into the Word app directly, I can than open the desired document by clicking browse - selecting Files app - and than selecting the document. I can edit it and everything. After closing word I will also see the new edits in the ,,preview,,.

But there is problem for sure with opening and this is just temporary fix, hope that they will fix it.

I also tried all these methods and they did not work for me.
But I did have luck by selecting the file and then selecting the share option and I mailed to myself and was able to open it in the mail attachment.
** I also noticed there are NO password protected files listed in the new preview application that came with this update.
I hope there is a new update that will correct this.
As a temporary fix disabling Apple Intelligence in settings worked on my wife’s Iphone 15 Plus
This is a problem with IPadOS 26.0.1, I also am not able to open any Word files in any way whatsoever without the Ipad crashing and rebooting
