Safari 26.0.1 Bookmarks on iMac Sequoia 15.7

that is also my biggest issue with safari 26.

For those of us on Sequoia, and unhappy with safari 26, you might want to look at FitzltEng’s reply in this thread. You can lay Sequoia in place over the Sequoia with safari 26.0.1 to end up back on Sequoia with safari 18.6 without a system wipe and reinstall.

I cannot upgrade to Tahoe, so I have no idea if that step will work on Tahoe. But if it won’t work on Tahoe, then you may still want to provide feedback to apple.

Thanks to brian mck for pointing this out:

on sequoia, You can use Apple Menu > Safari > Bookmarks and choose “Edit Bookmarks”. Then you can drag and drop bookmarks there to rearrange them.

Apparently that option has been there over many versions of safari.

please see 6x6's reply in this discussion. if you are comfortable using terminal, their suggestion fixes things for those of us on sequoia with safari 26.0.1.

Yep, it's a nightmare. You can't organise your bookmarks anymore, they can't be grabbed and moved about and organised. And they take up so much space in the sidebar. Even if you open them under the Bookmarks tab rather than the sidebar, you still can't organise or do much with them. It's a shambles of an update.

Please Apple come up with a solution that allows Safari 26 bookmarks to operate as they used, to when you have Sequoia. I believe that in Tahoe, there is a 'hambuger' tab that allows you to compress the bookmarks in the sidebar, back to normal? We need this in Sequoia, too. I can't upgrade to Tahoe.

you are not addressing apple in this forum. we are just other Mac users like yourself that are helping each other with their issues. there is nothing we can do to "FIX IT!"

Just encountered this miserable mess (Safari 26.0.1 update) to my carefully organised "Favourites"

Wow, what else have they done to make me swap over to Google !!

I've had enough of this bug and switched to FireFox (for now or for ever?). I don't know why Apple tries to make Mac OS similar to OS on iPad or phone.

Safari 26.0.1 is a total mess on sequoia AND os26. FIX IT!

That option didn't work for me

I shows my bookmarks exactly (links-order) as they were before updating

I did I little change to see if that will force reorder as they were to no avail

Not only gives back the option to reorder

It put back my bookmarks as they were before updating!
