converting VHS to Digital

Hi, I'm trying to transfer old family VHS tapes to my MacBook Air. I downloaded OBS and set that up ok.

The devices I'm using are Samsung VHS player - AV cables from the output to a mini AV2HDMI up scaler 1080p - HDMI USB Video Capture Card and into my MacBook Air.

I tested the output of the video on a TV and video and sound are good.

I'm not able to get picture or sound on my MacBook.

I don't know if this matters but on the USB Video Capture card there appears to be a LED but it hasn't lit up as yet? Even when all plugged in.
