Hyundai and Apple CarPlay UNRESOLVED Issues
Purchased a brand new 2025 Hyundai Kona Limited. Apple car play does not work as far as recognizing voice descriptions when using Google maps, Waze and Apple Maps. If you search by voice it either returns nothing like it can’t recognize something was said, or returns results that are not remotely close to what I said. This issue isn’t the case when asking it to sent a text message and the message recognizes all my words perfectly.
Please DO not tell me how to set up car play, please do not tell me how to reset it or how to reactivate it. I’ve spent the better half of the last six months doing every freaking version of setting up, resetting to factory and resetting up Apple car play. It doesn’t work.
Why can Apple car play recognize every word I say in a text message response but can’t understand the word “Target (like the Target store),” McDonald’s, gas station, gas, Osco, grocery store,” etc. when trying to use it for Google maps, Waze, etc. this creates a dangerous situation because Apple is forcing people to look away from the wheel to hand type in a location. Bc you’re also blocked the texting on screen function.
yes I have the latest iOS 18. I update every version almost immediately. None of the versions of iOS has this worked since I purchased the car in December 2024. Yet the same iPhone 15 pro worked perfectly in my 2019 Mazda. And please note: Hyundai says it’s an Apple problem.
