Purchasing a new macbook air but would like to continue to use 2015 Thunderbolt Display. Currently have 3 usb A ports (powered) in use on displaty, and an ethernet port in use on the display. Macbook connects to TB Display with thunderbolt 2 port. Would it be as simple as using an adapter ? if so which one? Appreciate the help.

If you use that adapter to connect a M4 MacBook Air to a Thunderbolt Display, the M4 MacBook Air will not get any charging or operating power from the display.
You will need to run the MacBook Air using power from another source, such as your USB-C Power Adapter and USB-C to MagSafe 3 charging cable. (Or your battery, if it is charged up enough.)
And of course, the Thunderbolt Display will require power from the wall.
