Safari opens on wrong monitor 90% of the time
I have a MacBook Pro with 2 external monitors, so using 3 at the same time to extend my workspace.
My issue is Safari. It is set to open on Display 3 (an external). When I launch Safari, the desktop/space on Display 3 (external display 2) slides over to the correct space, and Safari opens but it appears on my MacBook’s internal screen (Display 1).
I have to drag it to Display 3 every time. I can right-click the icon on the dock and change it from Display 3 to Display 1, then back to Display 3 and it jumps to the correct display. I cannot seem to get it to open there though. All my other apps open on the correct displays.
Note: If I drag it to the correct monitor, resize it, drag it around, and close it, sometimes it will open on the correct monitor again, even 2-3 times. When I try again later, it goes back to opening on the laptop’s screen.
I don’t see too many people complaining of this issue. Is it because I have more than one external monitor it gets confused? Again, all my other apps open in the correct screens.
This issue has existed for quite a while. The MacBook has been upgraded several times, and is currently on the latest MacOS 26.0.1.
The first external monitor is plugged into an Apple A/V adapter. Second screen plugged into the Macbook's built in HDMI port.
I've seen posts elsewhere saying to hold CMD or CTRL, or OPTION, or combinations of those while closing Safari, but none work.
Thanks for any ideas.
