Wavey ripple effect on middle screen for brand new iPad a16

Hello, I have bought a new iPad a16 1 week ago and I noticed something. When I put one of my fingers on around the middle of screen and apply a medium amount of pressure then use my other finger to swipe up, down, left, right (basically any direction) it creates a wavey ripple effect between my two fingers. This only happens around the middle of the iPad screen. I also have a tempered glass protector as well so keep that in mind. Did I get a faulty device and should I return it?

Remove the screen protector and re-assess.

If the problem is evident with the screen protector removed, you would be well advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to hands-on assess your iPad. If a problem is identified, you'll be in the best possible place to explore your available options.
