Smart bulbs not responding with HomePod devices despite troubleshooting steps

Homepod devices not responding. Hi, Im hoping someone somewhere can point me in the right direction to my issue.

One morning I awoke to a message telling there was no internet connection, this seemed to have happened overnight but was back up and running by the morning. An update on the router perhaps?

everything was working and connected except....

none of my previously working smart bulbs on the home app would respond.

things I have tried.

1, resetting the router - no change

2, resetting the HomePod mini - no change

3, updating the HomePod mini - no change

4, turning off and on each device - no change

5, trying to re pair a device - would not pair

6, Updated to the latest IOS

the 3rd party app that came with the bulbs shows 3 of the 4 bulbs and works perfectly.

next steps

is there anything I can do before removing devices and trying to rejoin? will doing a factory reset on the HomePod help? as anyone encountered this personally?

its completely bizarre that everything worked and overnight _its all died... It's like they are there but the HomePod can't connect to them.

any help would be much appreciated.

Andy

So,

I think I've fixed it.

Im replying as it may help someone who may find themselves in the same situation.

I tried everything as stated above and I noticed that the bulbs showed in the home app and could be operated if I left the HomePod mini unplugged albeit no automation functionality.

clearly the bulbs were connected to my wifi

I accessed my generic hub page on the web ( I live in the uk) and noticed the 2.4ghz band channel was set to auto. I changed this to '1'. This channel is the usual channel that's 2.4ghz uses (I think)

I closed the home app and reopened it and voila!!!! they they all are! Currently its been 48 hrs of it being fine.

Also

when I had the initial problem I tried to remove and rejoin a bulb to no avail. this bulb appeared 'bricked'

even with the other bulbs and everything else working, nothing but nothing got this bulb joined.

emboldened by my luck with the router I tried a few things to get it to join.

I turned off wifi, rescanned the bulb and the home app asked me to turn on wifi to proceed, I clicked continue and attempted to join.. unbelievably it worked!!

they all appear as they should

Lets see how long its last but hopefully this post helps someone somewhere if they have the same issue.
