Group messages isn’t working

I need help figuring out why I’m unable to respond to a group chat. Here are some key items/steps to know.

-there are No android users in the chat (as I created a separate chat and none of the contacts had green highlighted number)

-Group chat name has been changed to reconfigure chat

-I have restarted my phone

-I have turned off iMessage and disassociated number and iCloud email.

-Other group chats I’m on are working

-I’ve tested each individuals number to make sure they have an iPhone


I can’t think of any other option to resolve the issue. Please help

This happens when you change your simcard on iphone with a new number and enable that number temporarily for imessage. You then revert back to your original sim number and enable imessage, where you will lose imessage group access that you originally had with same number.


You have two options.


a) Exit the group prior to inserting the new simcard (but now its too late!)


b) Recreate the group by asking all members to leave and start a fresh.



Sadly this is a bug, as imessage groups are not managed by apple at the service/server level unlike Whatsapp. It is pretty much down to each individual device’s messaging app and how it tags each message to gsm sim number and its group settings created at the phone level
