Portrait photos in gallery not updated when adjusting DoF

After installing the latest update I took a few pictures in Portrait mode. At f=1.2 the background is very blury as expected. I then go and edit the photos, and changing the f-stop to something larger like say f=7.2 and the background is sharp. I clock on DONE to close the editor and go back to the Photos gallery. Low and behold the photo appears with a blurry f=1.2 background. I open adjustments again and in the editor it shows the correct settings and picture looks great. But not in the gallery. Tried with a couple of pictures, tried restarting the phone, still broken.

I hadn't used this! But I just tried it out

and it worked for me. These screenshots are of pictures saved (with the "done" button) after adjusting the "f/stop."

I'm not sure what you mean by "Gallery," but this is the Library view:

What do you think we did differently?

You say you restarted the phone-- did you do a Forced Re-start?

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

This is different from a simple Power Off. I had to continue holding the button down past the "slide to power off" message, and then I released the button only after  the Apple Logo appeared indicating a re-start.

Thank you for the screenshots. They do look different from what I am seeing though. I tried replicating the setup and the app will NOT let me take Portait pictures of a still life - there's a message on screen saying "No person detected".

I can still set the Portrait mode, like in this case High Key Mono, but then when I switch to Library the picture was saved as a regular photo without depth and without portrait mode applied.

I did the force restart but notice no differences.
