Stolen phone - Pending Erase

Hi, I had my phone taken at a nightclub. It was locked. I didn’t access Lost mode as I raised a claim with Theft and Loss first which immediately sent an Erase.

It has been offline since I lost it which means the erase is still pending. It is still in Find My and has been in several places but has been sitting in a self storage warehouse for the last 10 days.

I’ve changed all my passwords and there have been no mysterious log-ins on other devices.

I’ve been extremely anxious that they have my passcode as there have been weird plays on my Spotify and it seemed as though some WhatsApp’s have been opened.

I just really hope they don’t have access to my data !

They don't have your passcode unless you were tricked into providing it to them in a scam message. Otherwise, they would have to correctly guess your passcode in less than 10 tries before the phone locks out and does not even allow any more passcode attempts.

The bad guys will try passcodes like 000000, 111111, 123456, etc., so unless you had a very simple passcode, your data is safe.

Watch out and be very careful if you see a message from "Apple" or "Apple Support" that claims that your phone has been found and you just need to provide more information so the phone can be returned to you. That is a scam looking for your log on information or asking you to remove the device from Find My.

Apple does not get involved with lost or stolen phones, so you know that the message is not from Apple.
