I'm unable to download an app in my App Store on my MacBook.

I'm unable to download an app in my App Store on my MacBook. When I select the app, the download circular motion appears, but it disappears after a few seconds and quickly returns to "get." I have clicked numerous times, and it still appears this way... I shut down and restarted my laptop, signed out and signed in to my Apple ID, checked my country and region, checked my date and time, and nothing works. Any advise?
