can i use my ac cord with new mac book charger? The extra length part that you can plug into the box...can those by use with new laptops?

The official Apple extension cable to attach power converter to AC grid
is usable on many other Apple product power supplies; the cable slides
off and replaces the power plug that was included with original unit.
I've saved several of those extension cables to re-use; and found great
deal of value in buying those from second-hand or thrift stores; as new.
The cable (often sold separate from power supply) is an investment.
Retail, depending on your region, those may cost a fair amount; while
they can save your power supply from wear and accidental disconnect.
