I had a Final Cut Pro library with about a year's worth of media files I copied over into the library. After upgrading FCP the library is completely gone. I did not have this device on Time Machine so I cannot retrieve the old library. Anyone know any tips?
I placed a new FCP library to sync with google drive so maybe (hopefully) this will be a cloud backup and I can avoid this situation again in the future.

I don't believe for a second that an update erased anything. As Tom said, libraries are completely separate from the application.
Also, this library should be fairly large, so you can rule out small files like the usual backups that FCP does automatically.
A search like this one ought to bring it up real quick (make sure to select "This Mac" and not just the folder where you started the search):

Thank you so much for your help, it is 100% gone. I opened up the oldest library and it was empty, I created a new library and saved it to google drive. Hopefully that will act as some sort of backup. Going to go back to using time machine with an older time-capsule.
As others have said, it can't have just vanished as a result of upgrading FCP X and by your account it is going to be large.
So click on the Apple menu icon and select About This Mac/Storage/Manage and click on the Recommendations items on the left of the window to reveal large files in detail.
Updating the application doesn't affect the libraries at all. They're completely separate files. Where was the library stored exactly? Did you do a Finder search for it?
The default Library file path is:
Macintosh HD>Users>*user name*>Movies folder.

Yes did that and went to folder where it is stored. Double click library everything is gone it’s a completely new and blank library
Did you give the "missing" Library a unique name?
The default name is Untitled.

The most likely section will be "Documents" (but check the others) and click on the "Size" heading to arrange the folders in size order.
