Less of a question, more of an answer. I found I was not able to zip my FCPX library to back them up online. I got the following error:
The operation couldn’t be completed. Undefined error: 0
The key was that my library was on an external drive. When I moved the library to my internal drive on the desktop, it compressed/zipped just fine. I hope that helps someone else if they're having the same problem!

How is the external drive formatted? It has to be either APFS or HFS+ for FCP.

It's formatted ExFAT. Could that be my issue?
I have no problems using the drive for editing FCP projects.
ExFAT should not be used with FCP, especially not for libraries. You're lucky it didn't get corrupted. ExFAT doesn't really understand bundles or packages.
