Why would I receive a text with a new Apple ID code unsolicited?
Maybe if somebody else had your Apple ID information and was trying to log into your account?

Another possible consideration is this could be yet another phishing variation. Scams (e-mail, text messages, and phone calls) are getting very good at closely imitating true Apple communications. Always be cautious. Here are some guidelines:
