Use iPad as a whiteboard

Hello I need to use an iPad as a whiteboard I know it would have something to do with notepad unless I’m mistaken but how would I do that and how would I keep from losing the screen and every little touch? What kind of pen do I need? Thanks for any help

You can tap on the pencil icon at the top right corner of the Notes app to start drawing mode.

You don’t absolutely need a Pencil to draw however, you can tap on the (…) on the drawing toolbar at the bottom, and then turn on the draw with finger option.

You can then just tap on a tool and start drawing whatever you want.

What iPad Model do you own?

There are two versions of Apple Pencil. Apple Pencil 1 is compatible with the following iPad Models:

  • iPad (6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th generation)
  • iPad Air (3rd generation)
  • iPad mini (5th generation)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (1st and 2nd generation)
  • iPad Pro 10.5-inch
  • iPad Pro 9.7-inch

Apple Pencil 2 is compatible with the following iPad Models:

  • iPad mini (6th generation)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd, 4th, and 5th generation)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation)
  • iPad Air 4th and 5th generation

If you don't own one of the above iPad Models, neither pencil will work.
