Mouse focus - why it is not possible to work like with Windows 10/11?

I have switched from Windows to macOS (Ventura) for some time now. Overall, I think macOS is not bad, but when working with several windows that are placed next to each other, I notice very negatively that you very often have to perform an additional mouse click to select text from a window, for example, first to activate the window with the focus and then again to select the text.

If you do the same action under Windows 10/11, then such an action is faster... you always save the additional mouse-click there. This is clearly a usabilty disadvantage of macOS!

Can the macOS developer team maybe take a look at this and implement it like Windows does?

It's not about a workaround, it's about the fact that working under macOS has worse usability than working under Windows. The goal of an OS must be to bring the user to the goal with as few actions as possible, and in this point it must unfortunately be said that the effort under macOS is 100% higher than under Windows. This is not meant to be bashing, but I'm not the only one who noticed this behavior and Apple would probably like to bring more Windows users to their own platform.

It is also in the nature of things that there is sometimes something that works much better on the other platform than on their own and I do not think that Microsoft has a patent on how to handle the mouse focus and multiple applications under Windows.

This in not intended to be a flippant response 🤞 I hope not received that way.

Microsoft Windows works one way and macOS works the Apple way.

When I made the switch from Microsoft Windows to OS X 10.4 Tiger back in about 2003 - 2004, it did take some time to Unlearn my workflow in MS Windows and put on my " Apple Hat " and think OS X / macOS.

Yes, from time to time, I still fire up my MS Windows computer and have to remember to put on my " MS Windows Hat "

hmm I feel your pain ... but I often have three or more app's somewhat overlapping windows open and mouse over to one of them to just scroll its contents. But I'd not want to unintentionally insert my whole focus to that window so I don't accidentally drag 'n drop or otherwise mess with its contents.

...so maybe a deeply buried user .plist preference would be the solution for this. Then we would be quite sure the user complaining GUI behavior is correct or some user might have changed that (deeply buried setting) and then forgot doing so...
