cannot add yahoo email account to iphone12

Have the exact same issue. Changed my Yahoo Mail password and unable to log back in via the native Apple “Mail” app on any Apple device. Can access yahoo mail from any browser or though the “Yahoo Mail” app with no issues. I tried removing the mail account and re-adding and no luck. It just keeps looping back to the login screen after I enter username, password and MFA code. I tried adding the account manually and it either returns “the password is not entered” or that the mail server for some reason is not reachable.

I spent like an hour with Apple Support on the phone going through all the steps and they were stumped as to why it’s not working and said there’s nothing more that can be done and they will just pass the information further at Apple that the issue exists. Haven’t heard anything back since.

How to set up your email account manually

If you need to set up your email account manually, make sure that you know the email settings for your account. If you don’t know them, you can look them up or contact your email provider. Then follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.

2. Tap Add Account, tap Other, then tap Add Mail Account.

3. Enter your name, email address, password, and a description for your account.

4. Tap Next. Mail will try to find the email settings and finish your account setup. If Mail finds your email settings, tap Done to complete your account setup.

I have exactly same issue with my new SE mobile phone under IOS 17.0.2

with my other SE mobile with IOS 16.6, I have no issues at all.

I can log to my Yahoo email via Yahoo app. but can't add Yahoo account to mail as it just keep looping back to "Add account" page.
