Messages signing me out repeatedly

This started happening about a month ago and hasn't stopped. Every couple of days (it seems inconsistent), my messages app will ask me to re-sign in to my apple id even though I'm still logged in on the rest of my computer. Whenever I re-sign in, it lets all my other devices know that a new device has been given access to messages, and I lose all the messages that were sent during the time I was logged out.

Some background info:

• I have two macs, an M2 Macbook Air (which is experiencing the issue) on MacOs 13.3, and a M1 Mac Mini (not experiencing issue) on MacOs Monterey. I haven't updated my mac mini because I use certain software that still doesn't play nice with Ventura.
• I checked across other apps that sync with my iCloud (notes, facetime, find my, etc) and they all have worked fine this whole time. The issue is only with my messages app.
