MacOS Messages app not showing all messages

The Messages app on my MacBook Air and my iPad shows some messages, but not all. It seems random - there's no apparent pattern to which messages appear and which don't. This started immediately after I changed my Apple password a few weeks ago. I've tried signing out of Messages and back in, but that didn't change anything.

I was having this problem. When I checked on the account on Mac Messages, I saw that only my email was listed. I logged out and then logged back in using my phone number, and now both appear on the accounts, and I get all my messages.

Thanks for that suggestion. I checked all of the settings on my iPhone and MacBook mentioned in the articles to be sure that iMessage is set up, but am still not getting all messages on my MacBook.

Did you carefully follow the instructions in the article on forwarding SMS/MMS messages? In brief, on your iPhone, go to Settings>Messages>Text Message Forwarding and make sure that your Mac is selected.

I've just got this issue too, that only some messages arrive, maybe it's due to iOS17?

iCloud sync is active and message forwarding is set correctly.

What is fun is that saving an image that shows up on my phone and not my computer works just fine, but it won't sync the message (non text, only an image). When I quote a text message, the quoted message shows up as a small dark chat bubble on OSX (the latest, running on an M1 MacBook Pro). My reply to the quoted message shows up just fine.
