Tried to pay with apple pay at a doctors office

I get acupuncture treatments at Dr Kelly's Oriental Acupuncture & she said she accepts apple pay so I went to my wallet on my IPHONE & tried to send her a payment & a message came up stating that this was a scam & do not proceed. She has been in practice for many years, so I know she is reputable. I have never used apple pay before, so I don't know if I did something wrong or what. It was only for $100.00 so I'm glad I actually had some cash on hand to pay her for the session.

Contact list in Apple Contacts app or another app? If it’s Apple Contacts app it’s potentially not in compliance with Apple Cash Terms & Conditions. It is not permitted to use Person-To-Person (P2P) Apple Cash payments for business or commercial purposes/transactions.

Apple Cash can be used for Apple Pay transactions that are commercial transactions. Apple Pay uses transaction terminals and the Tap-To-Pay features.

Using Apple Cash for P2P transfers (commercial and business payments) can result in both the senders and receivers Apple Cash account being permanently closed and locked.
