The Mac is definitely able to print bar code fonts. I have used Word to print labels w/ Postnet codes many times in the past, and have also printed label stickers with bar codes as well.
Most likely the issue is that you need a barcode font or an app that prints bar codes.
How did you print bar codes before? You may have had a font installed on your old computer without realizing it.
For example, this site contains free barcode fonts for Mac:

If this does not solve your issue please explain how you did it before on your old computer and what you are trying to do now.
I actually called apple and since installing Mojave, I needed to update printer drivers to get it to work, but now it works:) ty
Perhaps the barcode software you use is out of date and needs to updated or replaced. There are numerous barcode printing apps in the Mac App Store.
Does your printer print anything at all? If it does then the issue isn't your printer, it is your app. If it does not print anything at a all, then please try resetting the printing system per the instructions in Reset Printing System feature
Yes it will print bar codes. Do you have someway of creating them that you haven't told us about? You haven't provided much in the way of useful information so rather than getting frustrated lets try and work through your problem to find the solution which I am pretty sure is pretty simple. I don't know of any computers (yes even $150,000,000 Crays) that come out of the box ready to print a bar code, the bar code must be created somehow.
Oh, if you're just printing a return label you received from a company in email it's almost certainly not a font issue.
I have to assume it's a PDF document you received as an email attachment, or possibly an image file. Is that right?
Regardless, what happens when you try to print it? Do parts of the label print (like the text) but not the bar code part? Or (I'm hoping, more likely) that the whole thing does not print? Or does the text print but the bar code part prints as garbage? (if so, then it would be a possible font issue)
Can you try downloading the attachment and saving it and then try opening it up in Finder to print it? (as opposed to trying to open it up and/or print directly from inside your email)
If you want more help here we'd probably at least need some screen shots if the above advice doesn't help.
You can take partial-screen screen shots by using COMMAND-SHIFT-4 which turns your mouse pointer into a cross-hairs where you can highly by dragging, clicking the mouse, on areas of the screen. When you let go you'll hear a camera shutter click and this will save a Screenshot file onto your Desktop. You can that attach those images to your discussion board reply. Just don't capture any personal name/address info as part of the screen shot(s) so the moderators won't delete it.
That is definitely weird. Almost nobody would expect to email you a return shipping label and expect your system to have a bar code font, to the point I can't believe that even if it sounds like that could be the case.
If you are using the built-in Mac Mail app (postage stamp icon on your dock), and if you see an icon for the attachment you can simply drag that icon to a free spot on your Desktop background. Then just double-click it.
If you are using a web browser to access webmail you will need to select to save that attachment and make a note of where it's trying to save that (such as to your Desktop, to Documents, or to Downloads) then use Finder to navigate to that specific folder and double-click it.
Is the file a PDF type file? You may want to consider calling in to Apple support and they can do a screen-sharing session with you. That might be the easiest option.
