Ignore Limit Screentime Bug Terraria & Minecraft

We have screentime enabled with a one minute limit on my son’s devices. Screentime is set to block apps at the end of the limit. All devices are updated to iOS 16.1.

At the end of the one minute time period, my son’s device gives him the option to “Ignore Limit”. This option only come up on Terraria and Minecraft. What do I need to do to prevent the “ignore limit” option from coming up in the future?

fyi… this kid has a history of executing some pretty elaborate schemes to hack screentime so nothing is out of the realm of possibilities.

I did notice both of these apps are connected to Game Center. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Additionally, I noticed both apps open in landscape (horizontal) mode even when the phone is being held vertically. They also don’t respond well to the upward swipe. Maybe some sort of modification has been made to the app and not it isn’t recognized as the app listed in the screentime app list?

Hello GJW09,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We understand your concern and we have several solutions that may work for you.

One solution may be to set up Family Sharing for all of the devices in your family. With Family Sharing, the family organizer can enable parental controls for the children in the family. You can also enable the option to require a passcode for changing or disabling app limits.

The following Apple Support articles explain more about these features and how to enable the settings on your devices:

We hope this information helps you enable Screen Time the way you would like for your family.

Please reply back if we can help more with this.

Cheers!

Thank you for the response. Parental controls were already enabled for all devices in our family, parental controls were already in place and a passcode was already in place. The parental controls and time limits work properly for all apps except for Terraria and Minecraft. What other solutions can I evaluate?
