Screen froze. Will not activate with contact. No damage. Repair service did all diagnostic tests and even tried new screen. No luck. Has ordered new mother board. iPhone is 15 months old

iPhone has never been exposed to excessive heat or cold. No contact with any kind of moisture. Always in protective case and has never been over worked. Mainly used for phone calls and texts. Seldom used on internet. Any other ideas what might have caused failure?
