iPhone 15 Pro Max stops charging at 80%

Hi my new 15 Pro Max seems to stop charging at 80%, I noticed it the other day and saw that it was set to optimized, so I turned that off and thought it would be fixed now. But then today I saw the screen suddenly turn on while it was charging and then I saw that it had stopped again after reaching 80%

I want it to charge to 100% every time without stopping, do you think it would help if I restart the phone? My old 14 Pro Max didnt have this problem.

Yes I know about these new settings, I already set it to none so it shouldnt stop at 80%, so that is strange. I might try restart the phone and see if it helps. After I saw that it had stopped again at 80% today I just unplugged it from the charger and then plugged it back in and then it started to charge again to finally reach 100%.

Hi. I’ve had this issue! Apple even sent me out a new phone and the issue still persisted.

The last two nights I have gone back to USB- type C charged and it has since charged to 100%.

I think the 20w fast charger that is supplied with the new phones is charging up the phones too much which caused it to heat up and stopped charging at 80%

Multiple Apple stores nor a customer service provider could figure this fault out, I’ve had to figure this out myself.

Had tried 2 options and it charged past 80%:

-unplug when it reaches 80% and plug again to resume charging to 100%

-charging using the provided usb-c cable to a laptop

i'd like to know for those guys who said to use a new charger. did you guys use a brand new charger by Apple or a third party trusted brands like Aukey, Anker, U-Green etc? currently im using the 20W Model A2305 of Apple that I've been using for over 2 years. And I don't want to buy the same type of charger esp if it's the same model number cause what assurance do I have that it won't perform the way my present charger does. This is my dilemma.

I'm late to this convo...but while there's not a "problem" if you charge to 100%, it will likely decrease your battery life.

For me, as soon as they gave the option to limit to 80%, I turned the feature ON and love it. Now, I can charge as often as I want, and my "maximum capacity" (in Battery > Battery Health) is still 100% while my wife's has gotten lower. So, I'm surprised anyone is turning that feature off...my phone can usually last 2 days on a charge even after only charging to 80%...so I'm happy to let my battery live longer.

After two years of constant charging, I'm betting my 80% charged will last longer than many people's 100% charge.
