iPhone 15 Pro Max stops charging at 80%

Hi my new 15 Pro Max seems to stop charging at 80%, I noticed it the other day and saw that it was set to optimized, so I turned that off and thought it would be fixed now. But then today I saw the screen suddenly turn on while it was charging and then I saw that it had stopped again after reaching 80%

I want it to charge to 100% every time without stopping, do you think it would help if I restart the phone? My old 14 Pro Max didnt have this problem.

Yes I know about these new settings, I already set it to none so it shouldnt stop at 80%, so that is strange. I might try restart the phone and see if it helps. After I saw that it had stopped again at 80% today I just unplugged it from the charger and then plugged it back in and then it started to charge again to finally reach 100%.

I'm late to this convo...but while there's not a "problem" if you charge to 100%, it will likely decrease your battery life.

By a small amount, yes.

For me, as soon as they gave the option to limit to 80%, I turned the feature ON and love it. Now, I can charge as often as I want, and my "maximum capacity" (in Battery > Battery Health) is still 100% while my wife's has gotten lower. So, I'm surprised anyone is turning that feature off...my phone can usually last 2 days on a charge even after only charging to 80%...so I'm happy to let my battery live longer.

Even if you didn't have it on, the phone would still stop charing when it was full and then let it drain a bit. You also can't reliably compare two phones unless they are the same models with batteries that came off the assembly line about the same time and that have exactly the same settings and apps and which have been used in exactly the same places at the same time in the same way.

After two years of constant charging, I'm betting my 80% charged will last longer than many people's 100% charge.

See the notes on comparisons above.

I used optimized battery charging and have for years. It has the advantage of my phone having full charge when I need it to.
