iPhone battery draining after iOS 18 Update

I updated my iPhone Pro Max 15 to iOS 18.0.1. A message said, "Battery being optimized" for the next 6 -8 hours (2 o'clock in the morning). Today, the battery was completely drained. I'm legally blind, and need the phone to go shopping this morning. I can't get my groceries without it. I've become completely dependent on the phone, and that has given me independence. There are millions who depend on the phone to work properly.

i am also facing this problemy😔i have a new phone 13 ..After i update this 18 my phone battery draining too fast…before this update i watch 10to 15 vedio in youtube or else its consumed 2 or 3 percent of battery but now 3 or 4 vedio consume 7 or 8 percent for battery…besides this heating issues also added. what a drag man…apple have to fix this problem as the fast as they can

I immediately downloaded 18.1 after going to iTunes to find out why I had also lost my WiFi connection on my iPhone 14 as well… ended up that I had to turn off my VPN and switch to “Safe Browsing” with my McAfee premium security… but the battery issue was even WORSE with the overheating! I found out about the WiFi connection issue on my own by accident and just fidgeting around, but I had already gone through settings and done it all- none but the absolute minimum on background app refresh, etc. No amount of rebooting or waiting days for everything to “settle in” has made it better. As much as I dislike the Android version of phone, I’m seriously considering getting a Samsung with the far superior camera and its editing capabilities… as Apple and their pitiful developers have missed the mark on far too many things; the annoying “notch” at the top of our screens, the loss of contacts or whatever when we have updates, etc.

I guess we have to wait and cross our fingers that they get off of sitting on their tail feathers and actually FIX the issues that we’re having… and don’t make things even worse. I thought when I immediately got the 18.1 right after the 18.0 it would fix it. Nope. I mean, what the Hello Kitty, Apple?!? How are we to trust you or even be loyal to the Apple brand???

Apple … please react. After having sold billions of iPhones, how can this happen. This update completely screwed my iPhone 13… battery drains within couple of hours, iPhone is running hot when doing basic stuff, from time to time there are black screens and overheating notices. This did not happen before. And I am already on 18.0.1. problems still persist

I've narrowed the problem down to my Exchange account. The statistics in Settings-Battery show it is actually the Calendar causing the drain. Then I found some very old forum threads suggesting that in the past, Exchange was the culprit in something like this. So I deleted my Exchange account (leaving the three other accounts) and the battery drain stopped completely. Once I re-added the Exchange account, I'm back to massive drain (50% in 6 hours without use). So it seems I can choose between using my work iPad (!) without my work email account, or not using it at all...

BATTERY 🔋 DRAIN SO FAST

It’s so disturbing that I was excited for iOS 18, but it’s the worst update ever. My battery drains so quickly now that I have to charge it three times a day, whereas before this update, I only had to charge it once a day.

Plz do something how we can get back our normal battery backup plan

is there anyway where I can uninstall this update. I like my battery than this update.

I have same problem but found a cause (atleast for me) it is draining fast whenever i have connected something with bluetooth (I am used to have my headphoned or airpods connected all the time just as I am calling a lot but not all the time with phone). When some device is connected like that, I found that for 1hour call via teams it uses same amounth of energy as in another hour just iddling with screen off, with headphones connected, but not playing anything via iphone

I am on a brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max, and it drains faster than my iPhone 14 Pro Max which was at 83% battery health.

All my apps were installed fresh. The device is brand new.

I live in Venice, Florida and I also upgraded to iOS 18 and had the same results, my iPhoneSE, doesn’t last near enough as before and I am charging it every chance I get. We are in the middle of Hurricane Milton, the hurricane of Biblical Proportions and I, now more than ever, need to stay in touch with friends, family and hurricane updates while we are running away from the landfall site. Way to go Apple, you’re supposed to help us with these updates not diminish the efficacy of our device.

I don’t think anyone has a solution… we’re all waiting on Apple to get off their buttocks and fix this as the iOS 18.1 did absolutely NOTHING to remedy ANYTHING that we’ve been experiencing that’s driven us crazy! 🤪 The huge battery drain, the hot phones, the loss of WiFi… c’mon Apple! Do you want us all to buy the far superior Samsung phones?!? The ones with much better cameras and NO ANNOYING NOTCH at the top???

Spoke to Apple moments ago about battery draining extremely fast and my battery health going from 100% to 92% in 1 week. They stated that iOS 18 just recalibrated the battery and it’s now showing its true percentage.

It's been 24 hours since I charged the phone. 70% with regular use. Feels like I have my old phone back. My situation will not be for everyone. I actually like that I have a phone back vs a cluttered app box. Going to consider this matter closed for me.

For others, I hope a solution is found for you, either by Apple or some other method.

Along with generally draining faster since the iOS 18 update, when I plug my phone to charge it will show a very quick increase of charge over just a few minutes, but if I take it off the charger, it drains back to the same level it was before charging in less time than I had it on the charger.

I am still in the process of figuring this out myself but I think the issue seems to happen when you have apps sideloaded / installed from 2 different dev profiles / certificates. For example, I have some LOB app from my company, and I sideloaded a custom app I am personally developing, and this causes a huge drain (99% to 9% in 6 hours), phone gets incredibly hot. The moment I uninstall all apps belonging to one of those profiles, I am ok. E.g. uninstall all LOB apps from my company or uninstall the sideloaded custom app I am developing.
