Hello, good news for everybody !!
I just updated my new iPhone 16 Pro Max to iso 18.1 then I updated my iMac Late 2017 21,5 4K 3 GHz Intel Core i5 quad-core to the last version od MacOs Ventura, build 13.7.1 (22H221)
Then the first time you connect the iPhone to the Mac using a Thunderbolt 4 cable (even if my iMac has only 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports), the system will recognize the iPhone, then the system will download an items to fully support the phone and DONE !! now it works good !! I made a backup of roughly 250 Gbytes in just 5 minutes !!!!
It seems that was a software issue now patched !!
enjoy !!
There's nothing wrong with using a Thunderbolt 4 cable here – but I suspect that it is overkill. A Thunderbolt 4 cable is a USB-C to USB-C cable that is high-quality enough to be suitable for just about everything, including Thunderbolt 3/4, DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB4, USB 3.x, and USB 1/2.
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max support USB 3 at up to 10 Gbps. So a plain high-quality USB-C cable rated to carry data at up to 10 Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2 speed) should be up to the job - at a small fraction of the cost of a Thunderbolt 4 cable that has to reliably carry data at 40 Gbps.
