Photo “Albums” disappeared after updating to IOS 18

Yes, a terrible update. But, if you remembrer the name of your folder, you can search for it.

After spending hours and hours and days and days and weeks and weeks organizing over 100k pictures in my library into albums the upgrade has unilaterally destroyed my work by eliminating my albums. Talk about ill conceived. You can promptly restore them. I have been a longtime Mac user but I am regretting the every penny of the many thousands of dollars wasted on hardware and software from apple. I genuinely hate every single person responsible for this disaster. Fix it now.

I thoroughly agree that this is the worst update that Apple has ever come up with! My photos are a total mess and I want what I had before the update. I’ve wasted so much time on this already that I’m contemplating getting rid of this phone and starting over!

You still can't search correctly for albums! I only get half the results up at any given search and some albums don't appear in the search list at all!!! Although they are still there if i scroll down my hundreds of albums, they won't appear in album search! USELESS

After the IOS 18 update my albums went down from 123 (on my iPad which I won’t update until this is sorted out) to 20. So I have lost 103 albums. Although when I searched for art class the album did appear. Any idea how these albums can made to reappear? I won’t remember what a lot of albums are called in order to search for them. Help please!

I have 160,00 photos in 1,300 albums.

‘there is no way to search albums - to go to that album.

Your photo update is awful. I can’t find my Christmas decorations album. I can’t go to year, month or day to try to find them. Other albums are gone. You randomly chose to delete albums I made for a reason and now most are gone. Whomever came up with this made a huge mistake!!!

Please enable the album option. Important information was captured in albums for me. Due to the number of pictures and videos I take, organizing by subject is more efficient than year, and month. Thank you

Where can I find my albums. Ever since IOS 18 update I had over 5 k pictures organized. Now they are a mess. I can find what I am looking for. When is this going to be fix. When is the capability of albums coming back.

This is the only suggestion that actually worked. They are still there. But trying to organize them in this new format is awful. I would also like to know why you can't "move" a photo to an album. It just gets copied into the album. So if you try to delete that photo from the huge, main album it deletes that photo everywhere. It would be so much cleaner to move it to the album of you choice and would keep that recent album so much smaller.

Japp, I absolutely agree. That drives me crazy. I learned the hard way after moving pictures to an album and then deleting in “recents”. It would be so much cleaner and organized if the picture simply moved to the folder and was no longer in recents.
