iOS 18.1.1 Update Issues on iPhone

Photos app is unusable. Music app is suddenly glitchy and my recently listened to music is constantly missing, it has almost a Spotify feel (bad). Text boxes seem to confuse my handset and it bogs down, sometimes delayed-tapping by two seconds or more. Autocorrect is non-functional. Screen stays on regardless of the Display setting. Somehow I butt-photo’d the inside of my back pocket, and the spotlight keeps turning on in the middle of the night. What on EARTH happened to Apple products??? This is right when I’m considering my next handset purchase. Wow!

Same issue 18.1 download KILLED MY PHONE! Apple didn't help much after 3 hours no change. It will not restore to factory settings or update! time for a new phone when will they stop. killing phones to make money?

I am also having issues after 18.1.1 update. I’m not receiving iCloud email consistently. I spent almost 5 hours on the phone with agents to no avail. I was told there’s not been any reports of my problems which I see is not true.

The agents want to factory reset my phone. I don’t think that’s a good idea because wouldn’t it just install the same update?? Apple, PLEASE SEND A FIX!

If it has no issues on only apple software and battery performance is normal, it tells you your third party apps are the issue. I know that’s not the answer you hoped for. But that’s what you’ll face when the update comes out from Apple and your third party apps are still causing the issues.

Totally agree iOS 18.1.1 has been very bad. Totally ruined my call quality. My microphone has been terrible and whenever I’m speaking to people on call they complain they cannot hear me and the voice sounds muffled. But when I turn to speaker during the call I can be heard clearly. This is very frustrating especially when all other features of the microphone are working well on videos and when recording voice memos I have no issues.

and the battery too 😭 drains too fast and the phone overheats. Wish this could be resolved ASAP I need to move from this 18.1.1 update

Me too! One example that is the tip of the iceberg is what they did to the dates on Photos. Upper left-hand corner you get a month and three dots no day no year. I have hundreds of photos of my mother through her Dementia. They’re very sentimental to me and when they pop up, I can say all this was when we did this or that. No longer I have to guess I can’t even just tap it to find the date. I am baffled by this change.

Now, with all that said, you posted in the iPhone community. Many (most?) may not use photos. The forums have a dedicated Photos app community that has numerous experienced users who might even have ideas on how to resolve your date issue.

18.1.1 was fraught with so many problems, APPLE should be the one resolving the problems — with an immediate new update that backs out all changes except security critical ones — NOT the users who each paid hundreds of dollars for a phone that now does not give any indication when an urgent communication comes in through Messages app. What next? A telephone that doesn’t ring???

After updating to iOS 18.1.1, I’m experiencing all sorts of problems. This has to be the worst update yet. My front-facing camera is unresponsive, the main camera freezes, and it can’t switch from rear to front camera. My iMessages and regular texts are randomly failing to deliver, and calls aren’t coming through. There should be a way to revert to the previous iOS version because this update is clearly a disaster and needs to be fixed!

Because Apple is so cloud based, why didn’t the updates for iPad and MacBook / Mac book Pro, Home, etc… arrive same time as the iCloud. Nickels to dollars, my money is this off setting updates are at the root of all of these phone issues. Apple prides itself on having items be handed off device to device…. But won’t update them all at once.

Are you referring to iOS 18.1.1? The X.X.X updates are almost always security related updates. Security updates can affect third party apps and force developers to rewrite portions of their software that may no longer work.

Since the update if I am not home on my WiFi my searches don’t work safari or google. Also other apps don’t work also and this is when I’m on 5g or someone else’s WiFi this never happened before 18.1.1 So why is this happening?

Apple does not support downgrading. So we’re stuck with an operating system that has a terrible photos app that won’t message full sized photos and many many other glitches.

We’ve paid over $1000 for phones that the Tech’s have ruined.

If they don’t fix the OS I’m going to Android.

surflong — Sending messages may be constrained by your cellular provider, internet provider or messaging app. You have to remember that 2 of the 3 cameras are now 48 megapixels. If shooting Raw I’m getting 70mb files sometimes. Even my JPEG files are very large sometimes.

I need help. Ive just updated my phone to the IOS 18.1.1 update and now my phone keeps turning off after 5-10 minutes and turning back on again. i dont know what to do. ive taken the sim out, ive put my phone on charge and off again, ive tried rebooting it and nothing has worked. please someone help :(
