MacBook with folder question mark after Motherboard replacement

i have a 2009 macbook that was working a while back but then this morning i tried to turn it on but it showed a folder with a question mark, i had replaced motherboard cause when i went to fix it they said to replace motherboard, they had torn the cable of the hdd soo i had to replace that aswell, same issue acquired after replacing everything a folder with a question mark, tried to download el capitan into a usb drive to reinstall it into my macbook but disk utility wasnt even working, the only thing was showing is a folder with a question mark, any help would be great.

  • thing is its pretty hard since i dont have an old mac, as it says here in the link you sent "Download from a Mac that is compatible with the macOS you're downloading. If downloading an older macOS, you may need to create the bootable installer on an older Mac that is compatible with it." i tried to do it with a newer mac and tried every possible way but its no use.
