Audio/Music STOPS playing when closing the Facebook app

Spotify 9.0.82 / I do see an update for Spotify so I am going to update but I do not have high expectations of that being the solution. Updating to 9.0.84

My music also stops when I close Facebook by swiping to close. It appears it would matter if it’s just to Home Screen or if you close the app completely. Spotify pauses when you swipe up and all the other open apps pop up? Sorry not sure the term for that interface

I thought I was losing my mind. Trying to listen to an audiobook on the Libby app, and I’m used to periodically needing to tell Facebook that, no, I don’t want it to override any other audio when I open it, but when I *close* it? What the ****.

I just upgraded to an iPhone 17 Pro Max and I thought it was me doing something wrong cause it’s been driving me crazy I wanted my old phone back😂

For me, I listen to a lot of podcast and it just keeps closing out anytime I close out an app. It looks like it is primarily a Facebook issue so I’ll just stay off Facebook for now. Thanks for posting about this guys.

...and it happens even if I don't load the Facebook app completely. Clicking the icon (when Facebook is not open in the background) and then immediately closing the app (that is, closing it completely, not just switching away from it) kills the audio.

Music on Apple Music pauses upon the following:

Your phone auto-locks while having FB open on screen, switching from FB to another app, closing FB app using the swipe up function, exiting FB to go to your Home Screen.

Any action where you leave Facebook, Apple Music pauses.

It involves the apps using audio resources. It’s a Facebook issue affecting multiple apps.

I have the same problem I just switched apps with closing Facebook out and it didn’t stop my music but it stops my music if I only close out Facebook without switching apps

Omg I thought I was the only one. The music stops if you're on facebook you're exiting by swiping up, assistive touch, even locking screen when on the facebook app. Started since last iOS update

Facebook update fixed it for me.

So glad to hear it’s not just me. It’s driving me NUTS! It happens with Apple Music and also the Podcasts app, if I exit Facebook in any way to return to the Home Screen those apps automatically pause what they’re playing.

I’m having the same issue and I have NOT updated to iOS 26. I’m running 18.6.2 on an iPhone 15. Having the issue whether I use the app switcher or just go to the Home Screen, doesn’t matter. So far only when exiting Facebook, no other apps.

I’m experiencing a strange issue on my iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 18.7.1. When both Facebook and TikTok are open at the same time, closing or swiping up to exit Facebook immediately stops TikTok as well.

Despite all of this, the problem continues. It seems like a system-level issue where closing one app force-stops another running app.

I just updated a couple days ago and yes that’s what’s it’s doing. Has never happened before. I’ve always listened to my music and switched between fb TikTok and whatnot and the music always resumed play after closing

Came here looking for this problem. But also have something happening in the same vein.

Facebook videos audio will play on loop if I just lock the phone with the side button. I have to put my code back in and close the app manually. Anyone else experiencing this?

Definitely just a facebook issue. My gaming apps too I’ve turned off all possibilities such as autoplay etc & it is still doing it. It started with the iOS 26 update I didn’t want the ios26 update but I upgraded my phone and I had too. This sucks and apple needs to fix it asap since they won’t let us have Apple Music for free 😒
